Arthur S. Brown
Art Brown has served as a leadership catalyst for more than 20 years. He is a member of the Spencer Stuart Board of Directors, CEO, Consumer, Private Equity, and Marketing and Sales Offices practices. He concentrates on the consumer sector, advising on talent and leadership. Brown works with boards and their committees to help guide CEO succession planning and development. Additionally, he leads executive searches for CEOs, board directors, and C-suite executives. Increasingly, his time is devoted to advising clients in the areas of leadership benchmarking, board development, top-team effectiveness, and culture enhancement efforts.
Brown specializes in consumer goods and retail. He has led assignments at a host of global and North American companies and has advised a number of leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Previously, he served in management roles leading Spencer Stuart’s New York and Stamford offices, Eastern U.S. region, and the Consumer Goods Practice for North America.
Brown joined Spencer Stuart after several years at a boutique search and management consulting firm. The first half of his career he served as an executive in consumer products businesses, senior-level commercial management, and strategy assignments. He served as an executive most recently at PepsiCo and served James River Corporation and Jacobs Suchard previously. He began his career with Procter & Gamble.
A native of Richmond, Brown earned his bachelor's in history and psychology at the University of Richmond. His wife, Terrie (W ’79), and daughters, Maggie (W ’10) and Shelby (W ’12), are all proud Spiders.
