Burns' Seminal Study
Three current and two former
faculty members contributed chapters to the
recently published "Reflections on Leadership," which analyzes and
critiques James MacGregor Burns' 1978 seminal study, "Leadership."

Daryl Agran, '08, Excels at the "Intern Challenge"
Daryl Agran, ’08, wasn’t kidding when she
said securing an internship had been a challenge. She was one of 30
students chosen from a pool of 227 applicants to compete in public
relations firm Manning Selvage and Lee's "Intern Challenge."

Five Students and a Recent Graduate Awarded
Fellowships to Pursue Internships, Research
Five students and one recent
graduate received fellowships to support their internships and
research this summer as they pursue projects as diverse as the
empowerment of women and children in Appalachia, the leadership of
jazz great Wynton Marsalis and the viability of community
watersheds.

Morgan Benton's desire to solve
problems has led him on a circuitous route from English-language
teacher in Japan, to avid computer gamer, to assistant professor of
information systems at James Madison University.

Adrienne Capps, ’98, Gives as Good as She Gets
As a
nonprofit fundraiser, most recently for Pace University, Adrienne
Capps has seen firsthand the difference a monetary gift can make.
Perhaps that is why she felt compelled to create the Jablin Research
Fellowship in memory of beloved Jepson professor Fredric Jablin.

Maia Carter Hallward, '98, Searches
for Answers to Peace, Justice in Middle East
Maia
Carter Hallward has spent the years since her college graduation
living in and learning about the Middle East, focusing largely on
the volatile relationship between Israelis and Palestinians. Now she
shares her passion for finding answers to some of the region's peace
and justice issues with her students at Kennesaw State University.

"Belle" Koclanes, '02, at Top of Her Game
Michele
"Belle" Koclanes is proof positive that athletes can be scholars and
scholars can be athletes. She excelled first as a student-athlete at
University of Richmond and now as an assistant coach of the women's
basketball team at University of Pennsylvania.

Evan Baum, '03, Transitions from Life as Student to
Student-Life Career
As an undergraduate,
Evan Baum enjoyed the benefits of the countless
student services provided by faculty and staff. Now he directs
and coordinates similar services for more than 8,000 students in his
role as director of undergraduate academic programs for
the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason
University in Fairfax, Va.
