Alumni and students are invited to attend the
following upcoming events:
Rage, Rap and Reality: An Evening with Rapper Chuck D
There will be a discussion, dinner and lecture given by legendary
hip-hop artist, producer and author Chuck D. Carlton Douglas
Ridenhour, who goes by the stage name Chuck D and was the lead
vocalist of Public Enemy, will discuss the hip-hop movement and
rap’s crude language. The discussion will take place in Jepson Hall
Room 118 from 3:45-5 p.m. and will be followed by a drop-in cocktail
buffet dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in
the Jepson Alumni Center.

Richmond Leaders’ Luncheon with Drs. Ayers and Peart
The luncheon is by invitation only. Alumni based in Richmond may
contact Sue Robinson to attend.

Richard Stallman Lecture
Richard Stallman, a pioneer in the free software movement, will give
a talk in Jepson 118.
Details: Thursday, March 27, 4 p.m.
Forum – Leading Social Change: Relationships, Story and Strategy
Marshall Ganz, lecturer in public policy at the John F. Kennedy
School of Government at Harvard University, will present the keynote
address. He teaches, researches and writes on leadership,
organization and strategy in social movements and politics. The
address will be followed by a workshop.

Forum – The Next Vanguard in Civil Rights: Abandoning the Myth of
Meritocracy
Lani Guinier, Bennett Boskey Professor Law at Harvard Law
School, will speak. Guinier is the first black woman to be appointed
to a tenured professorship at Harvard Law and is the author of
numerous articles on democratic theory, political representation,
educational equity and issues of race and gender.

Senior Banquet
A table will be reserved for Jepson alumni and there will be an
alumni speaker. Alumni will also be recognized at this event.

Reunion Weekend
Reunion Weekend 2008 will honor the classes of 1998 and 2003 and the
Boatwright Society, although all alumni are invited to attend. The
weekend will feature the inauguration of Dr. Edward L. Ayers, UR's
ninth president. The Jepson
Alumni Achievement Award will also be presented on Saturday morning.
