Arthur S. Brown

Art Brown serves as a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s global Consumer Practice and is a member of the firm’s Board, CEO, Private Equity, Marketing and Sales Officer Practices. He conducts chief executive, board director, president, and C-suite executive search assignments, and also provides advice on talent and leadership, succession planning, constructing boards, and culture enhancement efforts.

• Art specializes in the packaged goods and durables and retail sectors, as well as sector marketing/digital services businesses. He has led assignments at a host of Global and North American companies, and has also advised a number of leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Previously he served in management roles leading the firm’s New York and Stamford offices, and the Consumer Packaged Goods & Durables Practice for North America.

• A consultant for more than 15 years, Art joined Spencer Stuart after several years at a boutique search firm and management consulting practice. The first half of his career he served as an executive in consumer products businesses, in senior-level commercial management and strategy assignments. Most recently, as vice president of strategy and development at Pepsi-Cola North America, and previously he was an executive at James River Corporation and Jacobs Suchard. He began his career with Procter & Gamble.

• Art earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and history at University of Richmond, and today serves on the Executive Board of Advisors of the Jepson School of Leadership at the University of Richmond.

A native of Richmond, he earned his bachelors in history and psychology at University of Richmond. His wife Terrie (W ’79), and daughters Maggie (W ’10) and Shelby (W ’12), are all proud Spiders.
