Global warming, considered by some a daunting planetary emergency and by others a Chicken Little scenario, is the subject of this 100-minute documentary. The film’s star, former Vice President Al Gore, argues that global-warming pollution in the Earth’s atmosphere is now
"confronting human civilization with a crisis like no other we have ever encountered." The heart of this documentary is Gore’s data-packed slide show that he presents to standing-room-only audiences around the country. The film has a clear viewpoint. Gore has written:
"This crisis is not about politics at all. It is a moral and spiritual challenge. At stake are the survival of our civilization and the habitability of the Earth." University of Richmond faculty with expertise in environmental science and climatology will lead the discussion after the screening.
If interest in this program is high, a second screening may be added. Check the Jepson Web site for updates.
