Jepson Inducts New Majors, Holds Speed Networking Event

Jepson inducted 58 new students into the School during the Prelude ceremony held Nov. 12. Dean Sandra Peart welcomed the inductees, congratulated them on their acceptance and encouraged them to not be afraid to be eccentric.

“I want to ask you to help ensure the Jepson School continues to be known for ‘genius, mental vigor and moral courage’ in the future,” Peart said, quoting the British political economist John Stuart Mill.

Dr. Douglas Hicks delivered the keynote address and students Colin Franey, ’08, and Michael Mattes, ’09, encouraged students to be active in their education.

Jepson also held a speed networking event beforehand to give students an opportunity to connect with alumni and learn what the alumni have done with a degree in leadership studies.

Alumni who participated in the event were Joycelyn Bassette Blizzard, ’05, Patty Devlin, ’04, Mark Hickman, ’07, Sam Kaufman, ’99, Kate Materna, ’02, Jenn Campbell McIntosh, ’99, Raegan Williams Morris, ’99, Elizabeth Crowe Ream, ’96, Juletta Tyson, ’95, and Jonathan Zur, ’03.
